Navona Records (NV6276) In EXTENSION listeners traverse ten innovative electroacoustic pieces that are both deeply personal and universal. In her youth Svjetlana Bukvich has lived in Ethiopia and Scotland, experiences which, along with the rich sounds of the Balkans, influenced her sonic ideas. The album deconstructs and reimagines ideas of time, style, and musical history through its cinematic, ‘fictocritical’ sound that is entirely unique but at once familiar.
wherever we approach the music of this disc we will find that Miss Bukvich is a composer who is a true musical Epicurean, but whose sound of music is not only prolonged in the sensualist realm but also arouses in us a feeling of hope that is quite palpable
— Raul da Gama, World Music Report
Big Round Records (BR8931) The debut release from composer and performer Svjetlana Bukvich on Big Round Records showcases five original electroacoustic compositions that incorporate elements of classical, prog-rock, avant-garde, experimental, jazz and world music. Infused with a potent dose of magic realism, EVOLUTION delivers a uniquely musical universe in which concert hall and club, urban and rural, sacred and secular, and political and anarchistic seamlessly connect.
truly unique and different… if you like mind expanding stuff that isn’t fenced in or easily pigeonholed, you may very well find this album gripping and infectious. Evolution is a resounding success on all levels.

energetic complexity of prog-rock via contemporary composition… Her trademarks are sonority, color, texture, and a feeling for the metaphysical, and her collaboration with [Carolyn] Dorfman has earned raves

BIG ROUND SOUND VOL. 1 & WORLD
Big Round Sound (BR8942) Svjetlana Bukvich’s Before and After the Tekke for violin, moog synthesizer and electric bass guitar is featured on a label ‘dedicated to presenting world-class musicians doing what they do best: smashing the walls of genre and creating groundbreaking new sounds while keeping one foot firmly rooted in tradition’.
World (Pitch 200211) Experience the live version of Before and After the Tekke as part of the American Festival of Microtonal Music (AFMM) World collection of microtonal works (Exclusively on Pitch and Bandcamp).
Before and After the Tekke is inspired by Meša Selimović’s book Death and the Dervish, my visit to an 18th century tekke (dervish monastery) at the karstic Buna river spring in Herzegovina, the music idioms of the region, and the sounds of New York City. The piece features tuning of my design woven with tempered intonation. It is dreamed from sounds that I have once known but since forgotten.
